Flower Monster

I started from a simple reference of a flower from below and wanted to use thick oil paint with extensive use of the palette knife. I thought it might be a good idea to add an edge, namely some kind of creature crawling up the stem!

I think I eventually ended up overworking this painting, but at least I finished it to a certain level and I'm sure I would have taken something away from it, that is why I always try and finish.
